COURSE LEVEL: BEGINNER/INTRODUCTORY

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

· Summarize the research that allows us to predict future relationship stability.

· Describe the seven levels of the Sound Relationship House Theory.

· Conduct a couple’s therapy assessment using elements of the couple’s narrative, the Oral History Interview, written questionnaires, observations of conflict and individual interviews.

· Describe two interventions to help strengthen a couple’s conflict management.

· Describe two interventions to enhance a couple’s friendship system.

· Describe two interventions to explore a couple’s system of shared meaning.

· Explain why physiological self-soothing is essential for a healthy relationship.

· Create a therapeutic contract with a couple, discuss and decide on goals and include a summary of the couples’ strengths and areas that need improvement.

· Describe the Philosophy of Therapy including assumptions, overview of techniques and goals of therapy.

· Describe the Rapoport Intervention and when to use it.

· Describe the process of therapy, including the structure of a session.

  • Time will be available for questions and interactive discussion throughout each day

Continuing Education

  • This course is approved for 11 Continuing Education (CE) Credits via American Psychological Association (APA) through the Gottman website for Participants who complete the 2-Day interactive workshop and achieve 80% or greater on the post-workshop test. A link to purchase CE certificates will be emailed to you once attendance is verified.

  • This course is approved for 12 Continuing Education (CE) Credits via Credits Education. Participants must have paid tuition fee, signed in, attended the entire seminar, completed an evaluation, and signed out in order to receive a certificate. Failure to sign in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available. Certificates available after satisfactory course completion at Credits Education. The cost for 12 Continuing Education (CE) credits will be $40. An email will be sent to all participants who complete the course from Credits Education.

Social Workers

Level 1 Clinical Training Gottman Method Couples Therapy: Bridging the Couples Chasm is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Credits Education as an individual course ASWB #6073. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social Workers completing this course can receive 12 clinical Continuing Education (CE) Credits.

Counselors/Marriage and Family Therapists

CA: Credits Education is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs. Credits Education maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.  Course meets the qualifications for 12 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credits for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
